Hockey Specialty Camp Coaches
Mr. Ron Baum
Coach Baum is HSC’s founder and director. After a three year playing career at Western Michigan University, he went on to spend 34 seasons (1972 - 2007) as head coach at East Kentwood High School (1990 State Champs, ’96, ’99 & 2005 Runners-Up). His 623 wins is the state record in Michigan. Ron holds a Masters Level certification from USA Hockey and was on staff for 10 years working in national player development camps and continues to serve as a speaker in the Coaching Education Program. In 1987 he helped coach the Gold Medal team at the U.S. Olympic Festival and assisted in the selection of our 1988 U.S. Olympic Team. In 1990 he was voted Class A Coach of the Year. In 2000, Ron became the first hockey coach in Michigan to be inducted into the State H.S. Coaches Hall of Fame. In 2003 he was chosen Michigan’s High School Hockey Coach of the Year and in 2005 was inducted into the inaugural class of the Michigan H.S. Hockey Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Ron has directed and instructed at countless hockey schools throughout the mid-west and has been a professional educator for the past 38 years.Support Staff

All of them are great role models for kids, have a passion for the game, and are outstanding communicators.This summer, HSC has assembled the most experienced, and qualified coaching staff ever. The following coaches will be on the ice for one or more camps. Ross Antonini – Kent State U.; Erich Baum – College of DuPage; Todd Bell – U. of Scranton & head coach for EK; Joel Brazeale – Hockey Director, Georgetown Ice Center; Mark Izzard – Former G.R. Owl & Hockey Director, G.R. Grifffins Youth Foundation; Dave Rost -West Point, current all-time NCAA scoring leader; and Mike Slobodnik – U. of Wisconsin & Hockey Director, Walker Ice Center. These coaches will be assisted by some of the most enthusiastic and talented Junior A, college, and high school players in west Michigan
